Theatrical Review: I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change

They say art imitates life and there’s nothing truer to life than the struggle of modern love, especially in Los Angeles.

I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, directed by Jack J. Bennett and presented by the Young Stars Theatre is a musical review that presents an encyclopedia of what it means to be in love — or out of love, in many cases —  through 20 scenes.

These vignettes walk viewers through the role of relationships in our lives. The lighter first act gives way to a more thoughtful, second act that raises the question of how age and time impact our relationships. From horny twenty-somethings to timid older couples, there may just be a grain of truth in these caricatures of love.

This four-actor show highlights the versatility of the cast and invites viewers to imagine — and perhaps project — their own experiences on stage. Almost everyone can relate to something in the show— whether it’s pushy parents, insecurity or the trials of dating after a divorce.

Grab your Valentine or swing in solo, this is a show you won’t want to miss.

I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change runs through February 28, 2016 with shows on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 14 at 8:00, Sundays February 21 and 28 at 2:00 p.m.
