Twelve people have qualified for four seats up for grabs in the coming Board of Education election.
The elections will be held on Nov. 8 and decided in a plurality format.
Under that format, the candidate with the most votes will win the election.
In District 1, Rita Miller, Billy Malone and incumbent Kimberly Kenne will square off for the seat.
In District 3, incumbent Michelle Richardson Bailey and Patrick Amsbry will square off for the seat. Amsbry qualified for the seat in the 11th hour.
The nomination period on contested seats where an incumbent qualified for the election closed last week.
In District 5, Patrice Marshall McKenzie and Xilian Stammer are competing for the seat currently occupied by Elizabeth Pomeroy. Pomeroy is not seeking reelection.
And finally in District 7, Juan Pablo Albán and Yarma Velázquez have qualified for the election.
That seat currently is occupied by Scott Phelps, who is not seeking reelection.
Because there was no incumbent running for those seats, the nomination period in districts 5 and 7 was extended to Wednesday, 17.
