Thien Truong, Senior Vice President of Business Development and Sales

Green Dot Corporation today announced it has hired Thien Truong as Senior Vice President of Business Development and Sales. Mr. Truong comes to Green Dot from American Express, where he most recently served as Vice President of Retail and Mall Channels for the U.S. Payment Options group. While at American Express, Mr. Truong led the expansion of the brand’s prepaid solutions, including the nationwide launch of its prepaid card, Serve.

“Thien is a talented executive with great experience in both financial services and retail,” said Kostas Sgoutas, Chief Revenue Officer for Green Dot. “He will be an important addition to our team as we seek to increase our retail distribution and identify attractive new channels for product expansion.”

Mr. Truong will be responsible for managing Green Dot’s sales and new business development. He will manage products in various channels to help Green Dot identify new business partnerships and grow existing relationships.

While at American Express, Mr. Truong was also responsible for managing the company’s U.S. gift card business. Prior to his time at American Express, Mr. Truong served in various Sales Management and Corporate Strategy roles at Procter & Gamble, Nestle Waters, and Frito Lay, a division of PepsiCo. Mr. Truong joins Green Dot along with another senior hire. Joshua Goines recently joined the company as the General Manager of GoBank from PayPal.
