Tournament of Roses, City Teaming Up For Vaccine Clinic

The Tournament of Roses Association and the city’s Public Health Department will host a walk-up vaccination clinic from 3 to 5 p.m.Thursday at the Tournament House, 391 S. Orange Grove Blvd.

The clinic will be one of the first in the city to offer supplemental third shots of the COVID-19 vaccine to people with immunocompromised conditions.

“The third dose is for individuals who are moderately or severely immunocompromised and have already received two doses of mRNA vaccine (Moderna or Pfizer), may attest to their medical status, and receive the dose of vaccine at this clinic,” said Pasadena Public Information Officer Lisa Derderian.

“Additionally, the Tournament of Roses has been a great partner throughout our vaccine roll-out, including providing volunteers to our medical points of dispensing sites at PCC and Victory Park, and at our school pop-up clinics,” Derderian said. “They also assisted with flyer canvassing and drop-offs at local businesses in helping us promote community-based clinics.”

L.A. County health officials began offering third doses of Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines Saturday for people with severely compromised immune systems.

Among those qualifying for the booster shots are organ transplant recipients, people undergoing cancer treatment, HIV patients, and people on select “immunosuppressive medications.”

The Health Department urged people to consult their doctors to confirm their eligibility for the third shot, which should be administered at least 28 days following the second dose.

Tournament of Roses volunteers will be assisting with non-clinical duties.
