Trio Arrested in Case of Marine Killed Monday Night

Pasadena police have arrested three suspects in the case of a Marine Reservist who was killed in a bar fight Monday in Old Pasadena.

Joshua Martinez, 25, of Los Angeles, was hit once during an altercation outside Barneys Beanery in the 100 block of E. Colorado Blvd. at about 12:50 p.m. He reportedly struck his head as he fell, sustaining a blunt force trauma critical head injury.

Police say that later Monday morning an El Monte area hospital reported treating two men with stab wounds received during a fight in Old Pasadena. Investigating detectives determined the two had been involved in the fight with Martinez.

Jonas Ramos, 24, of San Gabriel resident, and Angel Moroyoqui, 21, of El Monte resident were arrested for attempted murder. A third individual, Bania Aguirre, 24, of El Monte, was located with Ramos and Moroyoqui and arrested for accessory after the fact.

Early Tuesday morning, at 1:20 a.m., Martinez died from the injuries.

Ramos and Moroyoqui were rebooked for murder and remain in custody at the Los Angeles County Jail, held on $1,000,000.00 bail. Suspect Bania Aguirre was released on bond on Tuesday.

The case will be presented to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration on August 7, 2013.
