Two Pasadena Gun Cases in Court This Week

This week, two high-profile Pasadena court cases will move forward in the Pasadena Courthouse of the Los Angeles County Superior Court. Here’s a profile of each of these cases:

Tuesday, June 28, 8:30 a.m. Preliminary Hearing Date Setting for Marcos Alexander Flores

Marcos Alexander Flores, 37, of Pasadena, is charged with  three counts of discharge of a firearm with gross negligence in connection with shootings in the Pasadena area on Dec. 20 and Dec. 22, and Jan. 19, in which no one was injured.

Flores was arrested on Jan. 27 in connection with shootings on Lincoln Ave., Summit Ave., and Lotus Ave. He is currently detained with bail set at $280,000.

The hearing will be at Dept. D of the Pasadena Courthouse.

Thursday, June 30, 8:30 a.m. Pretrial Hearing for Evan Roland Bynum and Dante Dejuan Ward

Evan Roland Bynum, 27, of Los Angeles, and Dante Dejuan Ward, 34, of Irvine, are charged in a shooting outside a Pasadena taco restaurant on March 13 that left a man dead and a woman wounded.

Police said the shooting took place just before 9 p.m. in a parking lot outside a strip mall at the northeast corner of Foothill Blvd. and Altadena Drive. The victims were seated in a parked car when they were fired on.

Bernardo Cortez Velasco, 23, of Azusa, was taken to a hospital but died the following morning. A 19-year-old Duarte woman in the car was struck by flying glass but suffered no major injuries.

Bynum and Ward both remain in custody.

The hearing will be at Dept. C of the Pasadena Courthouse.
