Two Shootings in Pasadena Leave Three Injured

Pasadena police reported two shootings on Saturday night that occurred within minutes of each other and left three people injured, one critically.

The first shooting occurred at 9:07 p.m. when officers were alerted to the 60 block of Peoria Street by a ShotSpotter automated alert. ShotSpotter is gunshot detection technology that uses a network of acoustic sensors to detect, locate, and alert police to the sound of gunfire.

Before officers arrived, two gunshot victims presented themselves at a local hospital with injuries, according to Lt. Anthony Russo. Both victims are 20-year-old men and were treated for their injuries. They are in stable condition as of Sunday morning.

The second shooting occurred at 9:39 p.m. As in the first incident, officers were alerted by ShotSpotter but also received multiple 911 calls, Russo said.

Officers arriving in the area of Painter Street and Marengo Avenue found a 40-year-old father who was shot while driving with his 2-year-old son in the backseat.

The father was shot multiple times and taken to a hospital in life-threatening condition. The 2-year-old was uninjured and returned to family, according to Russo.

There are no suspects in either shooting. Pasadena police detectives are investigating both incidents.
