Planning Commissioner Jason Lyon announced on Monday that Vice-Mayor and outgoing District 7 City Councilmember Andy Wilson has endorsed him in the race for the District 7 City Council seat. Wilson is the incumbent councilmember for the district and is not seeking reelection.

“Today, I am proud to announce my endorsement of Jason Lyon for the Pasadena City Council,” Wilson said in a statement released by the Lyon campaign. “Jason has demonstrated the right mix of leadership, commitment, and creative problem-solving our city needs to meet the challenges we face in the coming years. As a member of the City Planning Commission, Jason has been a tireless advocate for our district and for all residents of Pasadena. I am confident that he will represent District 7 with distinction on the City Council.”

Lyon is squaring off against Allen Shay and Ciran Hadjian in the June election for the seat.

“I am truly honored to have earned Vice Mayor Wilson’s support,” Lyon said. “He has been a hardworking leader and a consistent champion for the 7th District. If the voters of our district select me as our next councilmember, I will seek to continue Andy’s thoughtful leadership and dedication to constituent services.”

The campaign called Wilson’s endorsement “a major boost to the already considerable momentum surrounding Lyon’s campaign since he announced his candidacy last fall.”

In addition to Wilson’s endorsement, Lyon is supported by State Senators Anthony Portantino and Jack Scott, County Assessor Jeff Prang, PCC Trustees Sandra Chen Lau and Tammy Silver, and more than three dozen other local leaders.

In addition to his work as a local attorney at Hahn & Hahn, Lyon has served on the boards of various local nonprofits, like Young & Healthy and the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership. In 2017, Lyon joined Pasadena’s Historic Preservation Commission.

In 2019, Wilson appointed Lyon to the Planning Commission. Lyon was elected the Vice Chair of the commission in 2021.

Lyon lives in the Madison Heights neighborhood with his husband, Tim, a real estate agent, and their two sons.
