An 18-year-old man was struck multiple times by bullets during a shooting in Villa Parke at about 1:23 a.m. Saturday morning, police said, and described the injuries as “life-threatening.”

Pasadena police Lt. Rudy Lemos said a patrol officer was parked at the Community Center writing a report on an incident that appeared to be unrelated when he heard the gunfire.

The officer immediately ran to the park, where he saw a dark-colored sedan speeding away and the victim lying on the park ground, according to Lemos.

The officer ran to the victim to render aid and summoned Pasadena Fire Dept. paramedics by his radio, who transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition.

There is no information available about the victim’s condition or his identity.
