In-person visitation restrictions at Huntington Hospital put in place 15 months ago in response to the COVID-19 pandemic have largely been lifted, the institution announced this week.
Visitation was strictly limited at the hospital in March of 2020 as the pandemic took a foothold in Southern California.
But as the situation has improved, both locally and regionally, hospital leaders have determined it is now appropriate to welcome visitors back to be with their loved ones receiving care.
“Visitation has resumed to pre-pandemic levels in many ways, with the exception of some areas of the hospital that might have immuno-compromised patients, such as our critical care unit or our neonatal intensive care unit,” Huntington Hospital Dorey Huston said.
“We are grateful for this positive change. That said, we encourage the community to read our visitation policy on our website — huntingtonhospital.org/
The actions of Pasadenans helped make the progress possible, Huston added.
“Our community has really stepped up by accepting the COVID-19 vaccine,” she said. “We are encouraged by the decrease in COVID-19 positive cases throughout Pasadena and Los Angeles County.”
Precautions to prevent the spread of the virus remain in effect at the campus.
“As a reminder, per state and CDC guidelines, all visitors, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear a mask and follow social distancing requirements while on our campus,” the hospital said in a written statement. “The health and safety of our patients remain our top priority, particularly for those who are most vulnerable to COVID-19.”
