Although it is not a long walk from All Saints Church to City Hall, that walk will be extremely important at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday when All Saints Church leads a voters rally from the church parking lot, 132 N. Euclid Ave., Pasadena to City Hall, where voters will drop off their prepared ballots.

Social distancing and COVID-19 protocols will be followed. All participants are required to wear a mask. Most importantly, voters are asked to bring their complete ballot.

“With the election just days away, we want to create a fun and safe community based opportunity for members to vote,” said Juliana Serrano, a senior associate at All Saints Church. “As an Episcopal church, we continuously work to live into our baptismal covenant that calls us to ‘strive for justice and peace among all people and respect the dignity of every human being.’ On Saturday we will do that by showing up at the polls and by voting for candidates and measures that align with what we believe and what we are called to do. We aim to be a 100 percent voting congregation, meaning that everyone in our congregation who is eligible to vote, votes in this election.”

The drop off box at City Hall is an official voting box according to local officials. Voting boxes have been placed Vote by mail drop boxes have been installed at City Hall, and Brookside, Grant, Victory, and Washington parks.

Police are patrolling the boxes to ensure the boxes have not been tampered with.

This year’s local and national elections are extremely important. Mayor Terry Tornek and Councilman Victor Gordo are squaring off in the Mayor’s race. If Gordo can unseat Tornek he will be just the third elected mayor in modern history.

Local measures include Measure O a $500 million bond measure to improve local school facilities and Measure P, which would maintain the long standing utility transfer to the general fund. The elimination of these funds would impact 911 response, first responders, public health programs for the community, senior services, homelessness, housing programs, and street repair.

It does not increase fees, raise or create a new tax.

Three school board seats are up for grabs in a plurality election.

In the national election, Joe Biden is challenging President Donald Trump.

“I encourage those who are eligible to vote – to vote early and safely by utilizing the vote by mail ballot drop off boxes located all over Pasadena,” Serrano said. “We have legitimate drop boxes in our community that can be trusted. And, thanks to current technology, voters can now track their ballots and ensure they have been received and counted by the LA County Clerk/Register’s Office.”
