In an election update released on Wednesday afternoon, second-place candidates failed to make any significant gains.

Front runners in Districts 2, 3, and 4 continued to hang onto 60% or more of the vote, and Mayor Victor Gordo’s lead remains out of reach for challenger Allen Shay.

Gordo now leads Shay, 15,618-3,514. Gordo has captured nearly 82% of the vote on his way to a second term.

The update includes 105,717 ballots processed since election night. The total election results count is now 1,016,574, which is 17.89%.

In District 2, Rick Cole now leads 1,835-1,213.

Cole still holds 60% of the vote.

Williams congratulated Cole earlier today.

“I am disappointed with the result and extremely low voter turnout, but proud of my record and campaign,” Williams said. “With the goal of providing continuous high-quality service to the District and City, I have reached out to Mr. Cole to congratulate him and coordinate our efforts.”

About 975 remained uncounted in the District early Wednesday morning.

In District 3, Justin Jones leads Brandon Lamar 1,013-680. Jones now has 59.83% of the vote.

However, there are less than 500 votes left to count in that race.

In a statement earlier this afternoon, Lamar said he remains optimistic.

“My team and I have worked very hard to maintain an effective and positive campaign. With the help of so many volunteers, we were able to speak to and reach thousands of neighbors throughout District 3. Even though I am not pleased with the first round of numbers, we remain optimistic as we await the final results,” Lamar said.

In District 4, Gene Masuda now has exactly 69% of the vote.

Masuda currently has 2,491 votes. Jonathan Horton has 824, and John Doyle has 295 votes.

In District 1 and District 6, Tyron Hampton and Steve Madison were elected in unopposed elections respectively.
