Warnings, Advisories Posted as Powerful New Storm Arrives Over Pasadena Tuesday

From 1 to 2 inches of rain, heavy at times, and localized urban flooding along with gusty winds are predicted to hammer Pasadena today by the National Weather Service, which issued three separate hazard warnings for the city: flood advisory, flood watch and wind advisory.

Sand and sandbags for mudflow and flood protection are available for pickup at Pasadena Fire Stations 37 and 38 if you need them. Up to 10 bags are available per resident. Fire personnel are available to assist with loading if they’re not responding to a call. Fire Station 37 is located in East Pasadena at 3430 E. Foothill Blvd.; Fire Station 38 is in west Pasadena at 1150 Linda Vista Ave.

South winds of 25 to 30 mph were expected in Pasadena.

The weather system will also bring colder temperatures to the area, with daytime highs dropping into the upper and mid 50s Tuesday and Wednesday.

Generally dry and cool conditions are then expected Thursday through Sunday.

Tuesday: Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 59. Breezy, with an east southeast wind around 20 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Tuesday Night: Rain and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 45. Breezy, with a south southwest wind 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Wednesday: Rain likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 54. South wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Wednesday Night: A 20 percent chance of rain before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east southeast after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 60.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 42.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 65.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 41.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 62.
