We Get Letters | Pasadena Councilmember John J. Kennedy: Happy Thanksgiving!

Dear Friend and Neighbor,

It’s that time of the year when we in City Council District 3 simply want to say Happy Thanksgiving!

We gather on this day to be thankful for what we have, for the family we love, the friends we cherish, and for the blessings that will come.

The historic Thanksgiving celebration, when first begun, did not appreciate or acknowledge the many sacrifices and importance of the indigenous peoples of these lands. But today, my office recognizes the awful and deadly actions immigrants from Europe exacted upon the indigenous peoples, these lands, and the wonderful cultures that existed before their arrival.

As our nation continues to address and provide redress—which I support—for its less than noble actions, we must also move forward as one people under the same sun.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of our brothers and sisters in Pasadena and across this great nation of ours as we confront an invisible enemy, the novel coronavirus – COVID-19.

For your safety, please follow the local and statewide guidelines regarding gatherings as you celebrate.

Again, from all of us in the District 3 Office, we say Happy Thanksgiving! Please stay healthy and safe!!

God Bless Pasadena, and God Bless the United States of America!!!
Best regards,

John Kennedy
Pasadena City Councilmember
District 3
