Community First: Pasadena Church Has Always Been Open, Just Not in Our Building.

I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate you covering the issue of churches reopening. I just wish you would have brought in more “community-minded” churches who have never stopped working/serving in spite of not being able to gather.

Some of us are not as concerned about getting our people back into a building as we are the safety of our community.

This is primarily a public health issue not a civil liberties issue. I do not feel threatened by the Governor or any public official. Scripture reminds us that we have an obligation to submit to the governing authorities (Romans 12-the Bible).

There is also the matter of race and privilege. Churches with a considerable amount of Black and Brown people must be more cautious as to not compromise more lives.

I wish you would have interviewed a couple of us. Nevertheless, I’m thankful for you and the way you engage and keep our community informed and connected.

Blessings,

Pastor Kerwin Manning
