Wescom Credit Union Makes Key Executive Hires

Wescom Credit Union has filled three Vice President positions over the last quarter, continuing its mission to help Southern Californians build better financial lives and to exceed member expectations across all aspects of its business.

“We are happy to welcome our new Vice Presidents to the leadership team. Each of our new VPs brings incredible experience to help make Wescom the go-to banking partner for Southern Californians, whether it be through innovative lending products, business intelligence, branch service and footprint,” said Darren Williams, President and CEO of Wescom Credit Union. “We look forward to leveraging their collective expertise and, together with our existing team, continue to grow membership and further deepen member engagement.”

Joining the Wescom team are:

? Gary Kokonyan brings nearly 20 years of experience to his role as vice president of business analytics. He previously served as a senior director at Farmers Insurance, focusing on customer segmentation and pursuing value-driven Millennial households. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Cal Poly Pomona and an MBA from Pepperdine University.

? Jeff Smrcka has been appointed vice president of consumer lending. He comes to Wescom with a 22-year track record of success in consumer banking encompassing three institutions – TCF National Bank, Endura Financial Credit Union, and most recently TruStone Financial Federal Credit Union in Minnesota. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Wisconsin.

? Darren Hoshide serves as vice president of branch operations for Wescom’s Region II, which includes branches in Orange, West Covina and Riverside. He brings 17 years of financial industry and branch operations experience including senior branch manager, vice president for Wells Fargo Bank where he led diverse teams and branch strategies including business development, new branch build, talent development, risk management and acquisitions.
