The City of Pasadena and The Pasadena Fire Department are conducting free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training beginning Saturday, January 25.
In this CERT class, you will develop skills to help you be better prepared to take care of yourself and your family when disaster strikes, no matter where you are – at home, work or play.
The coursework follows the FEMA curriculum and includes or addresses topics on Disaster Preparedness, Light Search and Rescue, Disaster Psychology, Fire Safety/Fire Suppression, Disaster Medical Operations, Terrorism, CERT Organization and Incident Command System.
The final day of class includes a disaster drill, giving participants an opportunity to put what they’ve learned in class into action.
The first three class sessions will be conducted at 367 S. Holliston Ave., located on the Caltech campus. The final class session will take place at a location to be announced later.
On Saturday, January 25, classes will be from 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. The other classes are Tuesday, January 28, 6 to 9 p.m.; Wednesday, January 29, 6 to 9 p.m.; and Saturday, February 1, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Participants must be pre-registered, and must complete all class sessions to receive a Certificate of Completion. Class space is limited so those interested are advised to register as soon as you can. possible.
