The wife of KABC-TV Chief Meteorologist Dallas Raines pleaded not guilty Wednesday in a Pasadena courtroom to assaulting their 25-year-old daughter during a drive home a La Cañada country club on August 31.

Danielle “Dannie” Raines, 58, has been charged with one felony count of assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury, according the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

Raines lives with her husband in Pasadena. She and her defense attorney could not be reached for comment.

On Aug. 31, Raines was allegedly drinking wine with her daughter at a country club when she became belligerent and struck and pushed her daughter as she prepared to drive her mother home, the prosecutor said.

During the drive, Raines allegedly assaulted her daughter causing her to pull over, the prosecutor added.

Once on the side of the road, Raines allegedly continued beating her daughter and attempted to strangle her before she managed to escape, the prosecutor said.

Bail was set at $30,000.

If convicted as charged, Raines faces a possible maximum sentence of four years in state prison.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Crescenta Valley Station.
