Woman Found Dead After Pasadena House Fire

An elderly Pasadena woman died during a fire Friday morning that ignited in a house in the 300 block of Redwood Drive, and another victim suffered minor injuries.

The scene was a narrow part of the road near the corner of La Loma Street, and the Pasadena Fire Department had to advise people to avoid the area to allow for emergency vehicles.

Lisa Derderian, Public Information Officer at the fire department, said firefighters responded to a report of a house fire at about 8 a.m.

“Unfortunately, they came across an elderly female that succumbed to the fire. We also have a second victim that sustained minor injuries and did not want to be transported,” Derderian said.

Derderian described the site of the fire as “one of our Red Flag streets in the city, a very narrow street where several fire trucks and personnel had to be deployed.

“We’re asking people to avoid the street. It will be under investigation and we will be on scene for several hours,” Derderian added.

Derderian said it was a very unfortunate situation that someone was killed in the fire on the day after Thanksgiving. Firefighters were able to put the fire out in 45 minutes.

Pasadena Police and fire department personnel are still investigating the cause of the fire.

The name of the deceased woman was not immediately disclosed, pending notification of family.
