An annual event at the May luncheon of the Woman’s Civic League is devoted to honoring young women from Pasadena Unified’s Middle Schools for significant improvement in their grades, despite dealing with physical and/or  environmental problems. Learning of their efforts to overcome various obstacles is always inspiring.

The League leadership said that acknowledging these young women, hopefully, makes them feel valued and inspires them to continue the hard work needed to meet their life goals.

League President, Lisa Fowler, and League members, Anna Vickson, Eddie Newman, and Maria Cacarnakis worked to make this event a success.

Besides a Certificate of Achievement each girl received a $100 Gift Certificate from Target and League member Joanie Smith created charming centerpieces at each table consisting of a gift basket loaded with goodies and a colorful beach towel for each of the middle school girls to take home.
