PUSD's African-American Parent Council (AAPC) will host its monthly (virtual) meeting next Tuesday, October 7 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This month’s meeting theme is "Digital Advocacy: giving parents the tools and awareness to keep our children and families safe in an increasingly digital world". Presentations will include: Dr. Brendesha Tynes, award-winning Professor of Education and Psychology at the University of Southern California, whose research focuses on the racism that children of color navigate online, including online racial discrimination and cyberbullying. Sue Thotz, the Director of Outreach for Common Sense Media, a nonprofit that puts kids' safety and well-being first in the digital era. An exploration of Chromebook resources available to PUSD parents through the district's Curriculum and Instruction and Technology departments.
