3rd Grade Literature Tea Brings Classic Stories to Life at Holy Family Catholic School

At Holy Family Catholic School, students are nurtured as lifelong learners through immersive experiences that bring the beauty of literary classics to life, beginning in 3rd grade.
One of the most anticipated and meaningful milestones of the school year recently took place in Connolly Parish Hall: the 3rd Grade Literature Tea. This cherished tradition deepens students’ comprehension, expands their knowledge, and fosters a lasting love of reading. As part of the 3rd-grade curriculum, students read a Classic Starts novel, write a report, and then extend their learning by fully stepping into the role of their assigned character.
Through this experience, students explore character motivations and personality traits, allowing them to engage with storytelling in an imaginative and memorable way. The highlight of the event is when each student is “interviewed” in character, bringing their literary figures to life with confidence, creativity, and enthusiasm.

This year’s remarkable cast of characters came straight from the pages of beloved classics, including Alice in Wonderland, The Three Musketeers, The Wizard of Oz, The Jungle Book, Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm, The Secret Garden, The Time Machine, Mary Poppins, Pollyanna, Journey to the Center of the Earth, The Mouse and the Motorcycle, The Adventures of Robin Hood, Treasure Island, King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Pinocchio, White Fang, Little Women, The Call of the Wild, Black Beauty, The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan, and Helen Keller.
Heartfelt congratulations are extended to 3rd Grade teacher Mrs. Moeller, teacher’s aide Mr. Johnston, the outstanding 3rd-grade students, and their supportive families for a truly memorable Literature Tea. Appreciation is also given to the parent volunteers whose elegant decorations, delicious treats, and warm hospitality helped create such a magical experience.
The 3rd Grade Literature Tea remains a treasured tradition filled with imagination, learning, and lasting memories.
