Academics at Southwestern Academy

At Southwestern Academy, students receive a traditional, rigorous college prep curriculum — including a fully integrated program for non-native English speakers. This ensures every student is prepared for the rigors of university-level coursework, while the incorporation of innovative teaching methods provides the skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing world. Southwestern Academy’s methods include a mix of teacher-centered and student-centered instruction, small group projects, and inquiry-based learning. This allows students to develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills that are essential for success in college and beyond.

There are a total of 45 different course offerings, including a broad selection of elective classes, including drama, music, art and photography. Also, there are six available AP courses:

• AP English Language and Composition
• AP English Literature and Composition
• AP Human Geography
• AP European History
