Alverno Heights Academy Builds Community Through Culture, Creativity, and Faith
Sierra Madre’s Alverno Heights Academy continues to highlight the heart of its mission: fostering a learning environment where creativity, culture, and Catholic values come together to shape confident, compassionate students.
This week, the school shared a joyful glimpse into student life as learners across grade levels participated in activities honoring All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, including the Latin-American tradition of Día de Muertos. Students learned the significance of remembering loved ones, explored cultural symbolism, and took part in hands-on projects that connected faith with lived experience.
The school community also celebrated one of its favorite traditions—multi-age mentorship—when fourth graders partnered with their TK buddies in the campus Makerspace to decorate pumpkins. The collaboration encouraged older students to build leadership skills, while the younger ones experienced a sense of belonging and support from the peers they look up to.
Alverno Heights Academy emphasizes that academic development goes hand-in-hand with character formation. Its approach to education integrates faith, service, and creativity, ensuring students have opportunities to grow both intellectually and socially. The school encourages inclusivity and cultural understanding, reminding students that their faith calls them not only to learn but to connect with others in meaningful ways.
For many families, that philosophy is what sets Alverno apart. The TK–8 environment allows children to build lasting friendships and continuity throughout their early education, guided by a staff committed to nurturing the whole child. The school notes that its Catholic foundation welcomes students of all backgrounds who seek a values-centered and supportive community.
As the year progresses, events like these reflect the ongoing energy on campus — where traditions are celebrated, learning is shared across ages, and students are encouraged to discover who they are and how they can contribute to the world around them. Alverno Heights Academy continues to demonstrate that education rooted in community has the power to shape not just students’ futures, but also the way they carry faith, curiosity, and connection throughout their lives.
