Amplifying Voices: Artist Elana Mann Inspires Flintridge Prep Students Through Art and Activism

Whose voices are heard, and whose are silenced? This question was at the heart of a recent talk by artist and activist Elana Mann, who is known for creating participatory art that explores themes of listening, protest, and empowerment. Mann discussed these ideas through the lens of her acclaimed series “Call to Arms,” which examines censorship, silencing, and the resilience of the human voice.
Her presentation offered Flintridge Preparatory School students a compelling example of how creative expression can be a tool for examining – and challenging – social issues.

Mann also shared words of encouragement for aspiring artists: “Keep doing your thing and don’t stop. Find a community that will support you and that you can support.”
That spirit of community, perseverance, and creative exploration mirrors the values at Flintridge Prep, where students are encouraged to find their own voices and become critical thinkers who don’t just follow—but lead.
