App Academy Celebrates 10th Graduation

The App Academy class of 2025 celebrated its tenth class of graduating seniors with a lively Medallion Ceremony. This four-year computer science pathway is a collaborative program between Pasadena Unified School District and the Pasadena Educational Foundation. In this award ceremony, medals were given to the graduates that were able to complete all four years of the program. Including this year’s graduates, that means a total of 343 students have received the four year medal. In addition to these four year graduates, many other students have had a chance to explore the world of computer sciences through the App Academy by signing up for classes with the program.

In today’s technology focused world, giving students access to comprehensive computer science classes is a special opportunity for our community. With the App Academy, students are able to learn a variety of skills, from digital art, to website building, and even how to create their own video games. Recently, the App Academy has even expanded its curriculum to include classes on Cybersecurity as a learning track for students. To support this amazing growth, PEF has also worked to make sure that the App Academy students have had multiple opportunities to go on industry fieldtrips, engaging students to gain hands-on experience. With this collaboration PUSD’s students are able to find their passion for the computer sciences and enter the industry with their best foot forward.
