Back to School Survey Now Live for Staff and Students in LCUSD’s Grades 3-12
2020-2021 Panorama Survey Experience La Canada Unified School District
La Canada Unified School District (LCUSD) partnered again with Panorama Ed to deliver back to school surveys. Traditionally these were given in January with topics related to school culture, climate, safety, and classroom and school experiences. In response to the unique learning environment, the survey team made adjustments to check in with staff and students to ensure timely resource allocation as we get ready for the second half of the school year.
Developed by Panorama Ed’s research team, the topics in the student survey: include learning model, academic needs, student engagement, and student relationships. There are a total of 14 questions for students and we plan to analyze the data once the survey closes in the first week of January.
The next steps will include examining current resources offered to students and families connected to these topics and preparing additional supports such as offerings in the Family Learning Series, sharing new strategies, and even some student training sessions.
All surveys are anonymous and results will be shared with our Governing Board, staff, teachers, and families.
For LCUSD staff surveys, the survey topics included learning environment, health and safety, student needs, professional learning needs, and communication. Like the student survey, we plan to use this data for an assessment of progress to date with resources and support. Once we review the data, we can make adjustments to professional learning supports, gather research and information to share, and plan for any additional needs related to staff.
Parent feedback is such a critical element to assess our progress as well. The Associate Superintendent of Educational Services will be hosting Parent Listening Sessions on January 27, March 4, and May 12, 2020 to give parents an opportunity to share their stories and experiences. These dates will be posted on the District’s and school sites’ calendars and an email reminder will be sent to all parents.
