Barnhart’s Sixth Grade Team Wins Third Place Title in 44th Annual Mathematics Competition held at Don Bosco Technical Institute
Barnhart School participated for the first time as a team in Bosco Tech’s Annual Mathematics Competition this weekend. Open to students in the San Gabriel Valley, there were over 300 participants from local area middle schools. Barnhart had a Sixth Grade team in Level One (Fifth and Sixth Grade) and a Seventh Grade Team in Level Two (Seventh and Eighth Graders), with the school’s Sixth Grade Team winning third place in Level One.
“We are pleased to start a new tradition at Barnhart,” stated Ethan Williamson, Head of School, who also pointed to math teachers (and Middle School Coordinator) Mrs. Rose Ryland, Mrs. Anne Hastings and parent engagement as support factors for the new Bosco Tech math teams. “The kids are really proud and there is talk of a new math club on campus,” he added. “Since this was the first time that our students entered Bosco’s competition, we were honored to place among long-standing San Gabriel Valley school entrants,” Williamson noted. “As new entrants to this year’s 44th annual math competition, all of the participating Barnhart students shined in their abilities and the enthusiasm they brought to the Bosco Tech competition, which made it a truly exciting event,” said Kevin Mullican, parent volunteer and event coach.
