Black History Brought to Life

From Florence Griffith Joyner to Misty Copeland, Black heroes leapt off the pages of history at the Black History Living Museum last week. The annual event, sponsored by the African American Parent Council (AAPC), featured PUSD 3rd – 5th-grade students who brought to life the stories of African Americans who made history. Longfellow Magnet 4th-grader Mandela Jones won first place for an outstanding portrayal of his namesake, Nelson Mandela. Another 4th grader from Longfellow, JoeAnna Ojeda-Carreon, took second place for her Harriet Tubman depiction. PUSD congratulates all the students who worked hard to bring history to life!
