Blair Black Student Union Celebrates MLK Day with #HASHTAGLUNCHBAG

The Blair Black Student Union celebrated MLK Day as “A Day On, Not a Day Off” by hosting a #HashtagLunchbag event on Martin Luther King Day Jan. 16.

Over 40 volunteers assembled and delivered 300 lunch bags, complete with personal notes of encouragement, to homeless individuals in the Pasadena and Los Angeles area. Student volunteers from John Muir, Marshall and Pasadena High Schools joined with members of the Blair family and other community volunteers to make this event an overwhelming success. As one volunteer put it, “I had the chance to deliver some of the lunches and what a blessing it was. There’s nothing like human to human contact… they even read the note with a smile.”
