Bosco Tech Senior Alvarez Selected as One of Ten Scholarship Recipients of Pacific Crest Youth Arts Organization, Latino Community Network & City National Bank

Bosco Tech congratulates rising senior Diego Alvarez (MSET), who was selected as one of ten scholarship recipients to attend the Leadership in Music program hosted and sponsored by the Pacific Crest Youth Arts Organization, Latino Community Network, and City National Bank.

Diego has participated in the Marching Band, Symphonic Ensemble, and Jazz Ensemble over the past three years at Bosco Tech. During the 2019-20 school year, he held the Assistant Drum Major position, where he established himself as a leader, thoughtful decision-maker, and strong woodwind player. He has been so influential to the Music Program that 86% of program members voted for him as Drum Major for the 2020-21 school year.

In addition to earning the trust and respect of his peers, he has proven a valuable help to Music Program Director Daniel Almanza, assisting in coordinating the logistics of moving 46 band members and instruments to Nashville, Tennessee, for Symphonic competition. Additionally, he identified a song for the Jazz Ensemble this year and worked with a professional arranger to add it to the group’s setlist. He is always willing to lend a hand and to elevate the potential of the band.

Diego is academically in the top 5% of his class, is actively involved in his community, and currently working on his final Eagle Scout project. He was nominated for the Leadership in Music opportunity by Tech alumnus Omar Valdemar (EL ’88), a former band member.
