Bringing Stories to Life: McKinley Students Shine at Immersive Storytelling Showcase

The Immersive Storytelling Academy’s Summer Bridge program at McKinley School culminated in a summer showcase held at The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens, where students proudly demonstrated their projects with the technology they learned how to use in the classroom.

This summer, students:

• Sharpened their math skills to design the ideal classroom using ratios and 3D world-building programs.

• Practiced their English speaking and listening skills by producing a virtual reality 360-degree video documentary about a PUSD teacher’s experience through the Eaton Fire.

• Learned how to use 3D scanning technology to archive artifacts recovered from homes destroyed by the Eaton Fire. With creativity and critical thinking, they retold the stories behind each artifact.

• Learned digital software to generate original music to highlight self-expression and their own stories of identity.

The Immersive Storytelling Academy at McKinley School officially welcomes the first cohort of 6 grade students this fall. To learn more or to enroll in PUSD’s new Immersive Storytelling Academy, visit https://pusd.us/storytelling.
