Cathedral Art Show Features Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy Student’s Works

This year, six Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy (FSHA) students are participating in the 2014 Robert Graham Memorial Student Art Exhibit at the Cathedral of Our Lady of The Angels in Downtown Los Angeles.

Students were tasked with creating a piece based on the theme of Spirituality/Spiritualism (the theme for all student work in the exhibit). Students also had to write a short artist statement about their subject matter and the theme.

Those students in Ceramics 2 created a tile piece measuring 16×22 inches, and due to the scale of the project and nature of clay, they dealt with numerous technical considerations and challenges. This led to some students working hard over an entire semester to create their pieces.

The FSHA students with their work on display at the Cathedral are Isabella de Cardenas ’14 (Ceramics 1); Holly MacVaugh ’16 (Ceramics 2) Ani Matevosian ’15 (Art 3); LinhDan Pham ’15 (Art 3); Crystal Wu ’15 (Art 3); and Charisse Yeh ’14 (Ceramics 2).

Following a reception and Mass at the Cathedral on Sunday, March 23, the exhibit will be up until the end of April.

The exhibit includes work by students from some or all of the following schools: Louisville, Mayfield, Immaculate Heart, St. Francis, Crespi, Loyola, Providence, Marymount and Cantwell.

The remaining tile projects (all 20 of them) by the Ceramics 2 students are on display in the library.
