Chandler School Students: Making Sense of the Uncertainty

It’s the quick chats with their teacher after class that most young students misses the most. Those informal exchanges that help to answer lingering questions. Now Teacher interactions are more formulaic as queries are cleared up over email and classes are conducted online. The teacher talks while the students’ cameras are turned off, their microphones muted. This is what the new school year looks like in the time of COVID-19. There are no more physical classes at Chandler School for the moment. But while some students are nervous about this situation, teachers are still optimistic. Most Schools have already upgraded their online teaching and parents have so far set up on how to help their kids, since many of them are also working from home.

2020 is going to be a learning exercise for everyone in school education and some sees it as an opportunity to overhaul the way one think about teaching online. Although one of the big unknowns is how effective online teaching is compared with what happens in a classroom.
