Crestview Preparatory School’s Sixth Grade Graduation

It was standing room only as family, friends and faculty gathered to witness The graduation ceremony for Crestview Preparatory School’s Class of 2014. The ceremony included a reading by faculty members Leslie Lohman and Arsine Gendal, the announcement of the class gift, student musical performances, presentation of honors, a message to the graduates from Head of School Marie Kidd, and the presentation of diplomas with meaningful personal observations about each student from the sixth grade teachers.

Student performances included the 6th grade instrumental ensemble, Joanna Im with Nocturne from Concerto in G minor, Op 47 on the clarinet accompanied by Mrs. Do on the piano, and the contemporary song Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) performed by Evan Stevens on guitar and harmonica, Lucinda Clark on percussion and Ani Bernardi on piano.

The Founder’s Awards were presented by Founding Head Marge Hanna to Maxwell Alvarez and Sarah Abou-Rass as the boy and girl that best represent the qualities valued in a Crestview student. Honors in Academic Achievement were given to Diego Ahmad, Character and Citizenship to Saya Sarma, and Exceptional Effort to Emma Ragan.

In her remarks to the students, Marie Kidd took a moment to say “well done,” muse about the future for the graduates, look at the lessons they had learned and offer a few parting words of advice. Her message included these words:

“You have shown yourselves to be worthy graduates of Crestview. You have worked hard. Every one of you has had your moment of brilliance when the hard work combined with your intelligence, your artistic gifts, or your athletic prowess produced your moment to shine. Individually, you are not the same person you were when we welcomed you to Crestview. You are shedding your childish ways. You have given us a vision into the future, the opportunity to imagine the adults you will become, and we are duly impressed by the promise we see before us.”
