Discussing Public School Funding with Partners at PEF’s Community Engagement Forum

The Pasadena Educational Foundation recently hosted its latest Community Engagement Forum on Friday, April 28 at the PUSD Ed Center. The event brought together partners from the community to enjoy breakfast and participate in a conversation about public education with PEF Board Member and current Director of Planning, Innovation, Accountability, and Special Projects of the Pasadena Unified School District, Roberto Hernandez.

The event provided guests with an opportunity to learn more about the ABCs of public school funding as well as how parents and the community can influence school spending initiatives. The conversation was informative and engaging, and guests left with a greater understanding of the important role they play in supporting and working with the school district.

Nia Bailey, past PUSD African American Parent Council President and current John Muir PTSA President, shared her thoughts on what she learned that morning, saying, “I appreciate the opportunity to learn more about the complex process of school funding and how it impacts our students.”

Forums like this provide a valuable opportunity for partners to come together, share information, and work towards a common goal of improving public education in the Pasadena area.

The Pasadena Educational Foundation is committed to supporting the Pasadena Unified School District and ensuring that all of its students have access to a quality education. By hosting events like our Community Engagement Forum and recent Ed Talk with Larry Mantle, the Foundation is working to promote greater understanding and collaboration between the community and the school district.
