Flintridge Prep Celebrates Earth Day

Flintridge Prep teachers and students are celebrating Earth Day in various ways, including art projects and awareness campaigns.

Sophomores in Ricardo Rodriguez’s photography class debuted their artwork today, which centers on nature, environmental issues, and climate change. Prep4Earth, the art project and environmental initiative by sophomore photography students, is in its second year. Students researched environmental problems and created an artwork inspired by their conversations with World Strides and their camps in Ecuador and Costa Rica.

“Students learned about the issues they face there and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,” shares Rodriguez. “The student’s artworks this year are inspired by their talks with people on those countries, and by global and local issues that we face. For many of the students, it opened the door to do further research and investigate how to comment visually on global issues.”
