Flintridge Prep’s French Program Students Visit the Huntington Library

Flintridge Prep’s French program, led by Dr. Van Arsdall and Madame Schillerstrom explored the exhibit “Inspiring Walt Disney: Animation of French Decorative Arts” at The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens, learning about the Rococo and Baroque art movements and the influence of these styles on beloved films such as “Beauty and the Beast,” “Cinderella,” and “Sleeping Beauty.”

Students sketched paintings by masters like Fragonard and took a walk through a classical garden. The exhibit ends March 27, for anyone who is interested in seeing it for themselves!

“It’s a really fun opportunity to see parts of the culture that we wouldn’t always cover inside of class, but also there’s so many opportunities for learning about French in Los Angeles. We have so many resources.” —Natalie McMullin ’24
