Flintridge Sacred Heart Congratulate its Science & Engineering Students at the FSHA Research Showcase

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy (FSHA) congratulates a few of its science and engineering students. After presenting their posters and offering in-depth descriptions of their Senior Research at the FSHA Research Showcase, the science and engineering students traveled to the Archer School for Girls STEM symposium. They presented their posters and several gave invited talks at this event. The symposium also recognizes outstanding research with some awards, and FSHA was well represented.

The following were award winners:

The Archer RISE Award: 1 winner

Amy C. and Samantha S. – Treating Resilient Medical Implant Infections with the Hidden Genius of Apple Pies and Cranberry Sauce. The Archer RISE Award honors the top young woman researcher or group of women researchers for their innovative scientific research or engineering design project that furthers existing knowledge or develops solutions to pressing scientific challenges.

The Archer Scientific Research Award: Up to 2 winners

Ellamae F. and Julia K. – Remediating Triclosan from Our Wastewater: New Methods to Keep Our Ocean Safe. The Scientific Research Award honors exceptional young students for their commitment to innovation in tackling challenging scientific questions while using authentic research practices to further existing knowledge or develop solutions to pressing scientific challenges.

The Archer Engineering & Technology Award: Up to 2 winners

Caroline F., Luela H. and Emily M. – Development of Blink Rate Detecting Glasses for Student Attention Monitoring, and Sarah C., Kana P. and Kirthana S. – Direct Detection of REM Sleep Using Low-cost Cameras: The ZZZleep Mask

The Engineering & Technology Award honors exceptional young women for their innovative engineering and design projects that further existing knowledge or develop solutions to pressing scientific challenges.
