George H. Mayr Foundation Visits Alverno High School

Representatives from the George H. Mayr Foundation came out to meet Alverno’s Mayr Scholars on February 13, 2014.  Patrick Haden, Chair, and Katherine Olson, Director, visited with its Mayr Scholars and talked with each one about their current classes, their extracurricular activities, their families, and their plans beyond graduation.

It was a wonderful opportunity for the foundation to learn more about the impressive accomplishments of Alverno’s students and, at the same time, the students got to learn a little history about the man who started the Mayr Foundation and why supporting education was so important to him.  The students also received a beautiful engraved pen as a gift from the foundation.  Alverno High School is grateful to Mr. Haden and Ms. Olson for sharing their morning with its teachers and students and truly appreciates the foundation’s ongoing scholarship support at Alverno.
