Gooden School and UNICEF’s Bake Sale for a Cause

The Gooden School has started off its month long UNICEF fundraising celebration with the annual UNICEF Bake Sale.

The Gooden School and UNICEF have had a long affiliation marked with many projects, which are led each year by the first-grade class. Service-Learning projects at each grade level teach Gooden students the importance of community service. Incorporated throughout all areas of the curriculum, service-learning is designed to go beyond traditional community service and is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction in all subject areas.

This strategy of teaching fits well with The Gooden School’s mission. By providing these service experiences, students are given the opportunity to grow in body, mind, and spirit, and to gain confidence while discovering their unique gifts. Character development, diversity, and responsibility is also valued to teach students “Respect for self, Respect for others and Respect for the world,” also known as “The Three R’s.”
