Hands-On Learning: First Graders at Assumption Explore Reading and Rocket Science

Education in action! This week, the First Graders at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary School (Gators!) took a hands-on approach to learning. They practiced their phonics concepts and sight words by engaging in paired reading, where each student had the opportunity to read aloud to a classmate and listen attentively in return. In addition to building their literacy skills, the young learners also dove into an exciting science experiment, exploring how compressed air can propel a balloon rocket. Through this activity, they learned the fundamentals of air pressure and force, combining fun with discovery in their classroom.
