HFS Golf Team Caps Outstanding 2025–2026 Season with CYO Success

The Holy Family School Golf Team enjoyed an outstanding 2025–2026 season, with more than 20 active players led by a talented group of 7th and 8th-grade student-athletes.

In the fall CYO golf tournament, the HFS golf team tied for 5th place out of 23 teams. E. Murphy (8th grade) led the team with the lowest score of 34, while L. Scalo (8th grade) paced the girls division. Many players delivered strong performances throughout the tournament, with several qualifying for the year-end CYO Golf Championship based on their results.

The team continued its success during the winter CYO golf tournament, improving to 2nd place out of 20 teams. Once again, E. Murphy (8th grade) posted an outstanding round with the tournament’s lowest score of 29, earning 2nd place in the Boys A division. A. Chavez (7th grade) led HFS in the Girls A division with another impressive performance.

Last April, seven HFS golfers qualified for the CYO Golf Championship at Heartwell Golf Course: A. Chavez (7th grade), M. Marquez (7th grade), E. Murphy (8th grade), V. Nesselrodt (6th grade), L. Scalo (8th grade), J. Smith (8th grade), and C. Veloz (8th grade). Competing against the top qualifying schools, the HFS golf team earned an impressive 2nd-place finish out of nine teams.

M. Marquez (7th grade) delivered an exceptional championship performance, earning the tournament’s lowest score trophy with a score of 26 and being crowned the 2026 CYO Boys A Golf Champion.

Congratulations to every member of the 2025–2026 HFS Golf Team on a truly remarkable season filled with hard work, dedication, and success.

All CYO Honors

CYO includes more than 10,000 student-athletes across Southern California who participate in athletics each year. Earning All CYO recognition is a tremendous accomplishment and a testament to the dedication, perseverance, and commitment of these student-athletes.

Holy Family School is proud to recognize two All CYO honorees this year:

• J. Culver (8th grade) – Cross Country
• M. Marquez (7th grade) – Golf

In addition, the future remains bright for HFS Athletics, as PJ Koehler (6th grade) was invited as a guest to attend the prestigious All CYO Banquet.
