Holy Family Knights Academic Decathlon Team Scrimmage with Several Local Schools

Holy Family School’s (HFS)’ talented Academic Decathlon Knights had a scrimmage Saturday, February 8 with 3 other schools.

They did great:

• 1st Place Overall
• 1st place in Logic
• Tied for 1st place in Super Quiz
• 1st place individual in Social Studies, Current Events, English/Language Arts
• Tied for 1st place in Literature and Religion.

See the HFS Knights in action again on March 1 at the Long Beach Walter Pyramid Center and cheer them on!

Note: The HFS team is 10 team members with 3 events (logic, individual and super quiz), 8 individual subjects and 5 super quiz subjects.

California, the state with the largest Academic Decathlon, holds local scrimmages using the Round 1 tests, which are largely for practice and do not determine whether a team can compete at the regional level, which uses Round 2 tests. In the 2008–09 season, 43 states participated in statewide Academic Decathlons, though only 35 and an international school participated in the national competition.
