Innovation and Design at Holy Family School Brings Stories to Life
The new Holy Family School Innovation and Design program began this year, and they are incredibly excited to share it with you!
Mrs. Lutero and Mr. Shapiro have been visiting classrooms, working to teach the foundational concepts of Design Thinking.
This past September, students worked on Phase 1: Empathy, Phase 2: Define, Phase 3: Ideate, and Phase 4: Prototype.

Here are a few highlights from some of the work classes are doing.
Kindergarten and 1st Grade focused on the story of the Three Little Pigs. They identified how the pigs felt and what they needed and planned their design for a strong house for the little pigs.
2nd Grade focused on the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. They identified what Goldilocks felt when she was in the bears’ house and what problems she faced. Their design plan focused on creating either a strong chair or a strong bed.
Once these grades completed their prototypes, the designs were shared and tested.
“At Holy Family Catholic School, we passionately instill Christian values and Catholic principles in our students, guiding them through the Gospel message of Jesus Christ: Faith, Community, Service, and Excellence. These principles are the foundation of our community and the essence of our mission.”
