La Cañada High School Celebrates 2025 National Merit Scholars

La Cañada Unified School District and La Cañada High School leadership proudly celebrated seven seniors who earned recognition through the National Merit Scholarship Program. This year’s honorees include Colin Hwang, Zoe Petropoulos, Samuel Street, Aidan Wei, Gabriel Kronson, Eliya Kim, and Kaylee Thornburgh.

National Merit distinction is awarded to students who achieve top scores on the PSAT/NMSQT and demonstrate academic excellence throughout high school. Out of more than 1.3 million students who entered the 2025 competition nationwide, only a small percentage advance to become Semifinalists, Finalists, or Scholarship winners.

Among La Cañada’s scholars, senior Zoe Petropoulos was selected as a recipient of the prestigious National Merit $2,500 Scholarship, placing her among the most accomplished students in the nation.

At a recent recognition event, district and school leaders commended the students for their hard work, perseverance, and commitment to excellence, while also highlighting the vital support of families and educators. The celebration underscored the district’s strong academic tradition and its mission to prepare students for success in college and beyond.
