The year’s Academic Decathlon team – like all the others – has faced a year like none other. While the pandemic has clearly changed the class from physical to virtual, the desire to achieve has not lessened. In fact this year there have been more students who have enrolled for AD than in any previous year. La Salle College Preparatory (LCP) have a school-record 38 competitors this year, competing in all five divisions of the Southern California Private Schools Division.

The picture above shows their AD Lancers writing their essay portion of the contest on January 16th. This year’s topic is the Cold War and the novel this year is Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut. On January 30, the students will be competing in the Speech and Interview portions of the competition (via Zoom) and on February 6, they will be taking the seven objective tests. Please wish these students good luck and success over the next few weeks as their hard work will truly come to fruition.
