Learning Mandarin Can Open Doors of Opportunities

Mandarin is gaining more ground as the preferred second-language in the world. That’s why it’s not surprising that Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, and former U.S. President Obama’s daughter, Malia Obama, all learned Chinese as a second language.

Sheer numbers alone give convincing weight to the importance of this language in today’s highly-competitive global landscape. China has a population of 1.4 billion people, one-fifth of the world’s population. As a business powerhouse, China is a major trade partner with the world’s largest economies.

Robert Davis, the director of the Chinese-language program in Chicago’s public school system, once said that “Chinese isn’t the new French, it’s the new English. “

There are at least 500 Chinese programs in the U.S. elementary, junior high and senior high schools. A report from USA Today (2015), quoting the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, mentioned that the number of students studying Chinese has “got to be somewhere around 30,000 to 50,000.”

Recognizing the potential of Mandarin in the global stage and the advantage of learning it for business and professional career, Stratford School is launching its Mandarin Bilingual Preschool Program here in the Pasadena area.

According to Stratford School, preschool children readily absorb another language almost effortlessly, particularly when instructed in an organic bilingual environment.

The Mandarin Bilingual Preschool Program is being offered at both of Stratford’s Altadena and Los Angeles campuses starting this upcoming 2019/2020 school year. It is a program designed to create a truly immersive environment with consistency and continuity of Stratford’s enriched Preschool curriculum. A two-teacher team will teach the bilingual program, one speaking and instructing in Mandarin, and the other in English.

Providing your children the opportunity to learn Mandarin is an investment in their future. And their advanced knowledge of more than one language will open doors in this growing mulitlingual, multicultural world.

Stratford School – Altadena is located at 2046 Allen Avenue and can be reached at (626) 794-1000, while its Los Angeles campus is located at 1200 N. Cahuenga Boulevard at (323) 962-3075. For more information visit their website at www.stratfordschools.com.
