Making a Difference in the Community

John Lynch, Community Schools Program Specialist at Pasadena HS (PHS), has begun delivering groceries to PHS families in need as a response to COVID-19. Using a Google Form to capture referrals from PHS teachers and staff, Lynch has partnered with Pasadena/Altadena Coalition of Transformative Leaders (PACTL) to provide each family with a box of groceries each Thursday. Lynch shares, “I am so proud of the synergy that is happening in Pasadena – between the district, community-based organizations and the city – in support of students and families during these uncertain times.

Thousands of school lunches are being served 7 days a week by the district and city, while hundreds more are being delivered each day by community-based organizations like PACTL, Collaborate Pasadena and STARS. I am just trying to do my part to support food access with these weekly groceries.”

This project is sponsored by Los Angeles County Office of Education #LACOECSI, Pasadena High School Bulldogs, Pasadena Unified School District, and Collaborate PASadena Stars: Illuminate Educate Advocate.
