Marshall Academy for Creative Industry Students, Staff and Volunteers Attends Job Shadow Day

On Thursday, February 2nd the Marshall Fundamental Academy for Creative Industries students, staff, and volunteers hit the streets to attend Job Shadow Day across arts businesses across Los Angeles County. Each student was assigned a location for a Job Shadow experience. Shadow provides students the opportunity to observe professionals performing their roles and learn more about the skills required in performing these tasks. Overall it provides students real-world aspects of the businesses and people they met. The Marshall Fundamental ACI Team is grateful to the Light Bringer Project for connecting our program to the many amazing arts and cultural centers in the Los Angeles Area.

The cultural and arts centers included the Gamble House, the Arboretum, the Pasadena Playhouse, the Lamanda Park Library, the USC Pacific Asia Museum, the Pasadena Conservatory of Music, the Red Hen Press, the Side Street Project, Day One, Boston Court, La Plaza De Cultura y Artes, MOCA, Modern Multiples, and Self Help Graphics. Each provided a rich and intimate observance of their business.

The Academy for Creative Industries (ACI) located at Marshall Fundamental School is focused on the performing arts and music, dance, and drama along with the visual and graphic design in efforts of preparing students for college and career opportunities beyond high school. Students in ACI will have access to industry professionals and will be able to visit professionals at their job sites to see their work first hand. ACI Students will choose from high-level courses such as Stage Tech, Music Theory, AP Music Theory, Advanced Drama, Choir, Band, Orchestra, Dance, Dance Production, and Graphic Design. In Visual Arts, there is Art, Drawing and Painting and AP Studio Art. For more information please contact Assistant Principal & ACI Administrator Lanisha Kelly – Kelly.Lanisha@pusd.us.
